HAK 17

18th Dec 17 - 7th Jan 18

Villagehall
This highly anticipated multi-purpose village hall will eventually serve as a common place for villagers to conduct social events and official village meetings. In addition, it will also be a platform for the Ministry of Health representatives to raise health awareness through conducting birth control lessons and provision of vaccinations.
culturalexchange
We introduced our world-famous Singaporean food culture to the villagers by preparing laksa, curry chicken and kaya puffs during our Christmas gathering. We also joined them for a BBQ picnic to celebrate Buddha Day, a widely celebrated festival in Laos. In addition, we were also fortunate to have the opportunity to attend a Laotian wedding!
Englishlessons
We taught basic vocabulary in a fun and interactive way, with the aim of sparking the students' interest in the language at an earlier age. We hope that HAK's efforts over the years will be beneficial in improving their proficiency in the English language; allowing them to eventually seek tertiary education in the city and expand their career options in future.
health
care
We distributed healthcare products (toothbrushes, toothpaste) and basic necessities (clothes, shoes, bags) to the less well-off ethnic minority group residing in Na Phong Village. We also educated the villagers on the importance of oral hygiene and how to use the oral products.
